“One of my favorite albums probably is an album my dad was in titled Winans Phase 2. That album was great and I love listening to it. It’s probably one of my favorite albums.” –Marvin Winans III

Just one week ago Marvin Lawrence Winans III -affectionately known as Three – walked onto the blue carpet at the series premiere of Forever,’ a Netflix TV series executive produced by Mara Brock Akil.

As a standout in commercials, television, and basketball, Three is emerging as a force in the third generation of the Winans legacy—embodying the character and work ethic of the successful relatives who paved the way before him.

As he stood on the blue carpet, Three was greeted by an onslaught of media. Photographers and videographers lined up to capture this moment in history, the moment a third-generation Winans booked his first, breakout role as a series regular on one of the most highly anticipated TV series. In his latest role, Three plays Jaden Edwards, the younger brother of lead actor Justin Edwards (Michael Cooper Jr.) Although he can be annoying, Jaden (Marvin Lawrence Winans III) idolizes his big brother and enjoys any chance he gets to spend time with him.

The series follows the magic and awkwardness of a love story between Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.) and Keisha (Lovie Simone) who reunite as teens and fall deeply in love. As a young couple, the two love birds experience joy and heartache as they explore their identities through the exciting, excruciating, confusing, and passionate journey of being each other’s first romance, first kiss, and first I Love You – a journey that changes their lives forever.

‘Forever’, which debuted May 8th, currently holds the Number 1 spot on Netflix in the TV series category.

In an exclusive interview with ThisIsRnB.com, Three spoke with the editorial team about why he feels the story resonates so deeply with audiences around the world. I think it’s the fact that they push through so many different things that happen and their love is stronger than anything that can stop them. It makes me feel warm in the heart and I’m looking forward to having the moment that they did,” says Three.

As a member of America’s First Family of Gospel, Three admits that while he loves entertainment he’s more inclined to play video games, basketball, and watch movies and TV before curating a playlist of music. “I listen to music but I don’t listen to music as much as a lot of other people do. So, I don’t really know a lot of songs by many people but I will say that one of my favorite albums probably is an album my dad was in titled “Winans Phase 2.”  Released in 1999, the album features hits like It’s Alright (Send Me) and El Shaddai sung by Marvin Winans Jr., Carvin Winans Jr., Michael Winans Jr., and Juan Winans. “That album was great and I love listening to it. That’s probably one of my favorite albums. I also love gospel music. My auntie Cece Winans is the most awarded gospel artist of all time and she has some great music,” says Three.

The Forever Soundtrack features a Netflix original series score with music curated by Gary Gunn (A Thousand and One, David Makes Man, Quad Gods, Maggie Black, Master of Light). The soundtrack features 45 minutes and 34 seconds of music that echoes the emotional core of the new, number 1 romantic drama series. Each of the 8 episodes features hits from some of the most beloved artists in music like Bad and Boujee by Migos in episode 1, New Love by Victoria Monet in episode 2, Focus by H.E.R. in episode 3, and Normal Girl by SZA in episode 5.
