“Never Look Down on anybody unless you’re helping them up.”- Jesse Jackson
The world is mourning the loss of a towering voice for justice, Jesse Jackson has passed away at 84.
A monumental civil rights icon, faith leader, and political force, Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson devoted his life to uplifting the poor, the forgotten, and the marginalized. With a thunderous, unmistakable cadence, he stirred hearts and mobilized communities. His signature declarations — “I Am Somebody” and “Keep Hope Alive” — became rallying cries that restored dignity and possibility to generations who felt unheard and unseen.
Jackson rose to prominence working alongside the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, carrying forward the moral urgency of the Civil Rights Movement. He later founded Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity), advocating for economic empowerment and corporate accountability. That work expanded into the National Rainbow Coalition, a movement built to unite people across race, class, and background in pursuit of social and political change.
Though at times a polarizing political figure, Jackson never wavered in his commitment to justice and equality. Today, we remember a relentless champion who challenged America to do better — and reminded us all that we are somebody. His echo will endure.
Rest in Peace.
