Day26 Signs to Bryan-Michael Cox’s Illustrate New Ideas

Day26 is ushering in a new chapter. The R&B quintet — consisting of Brian Angel, Mike McCluney, Que Mosley, Robert Curry and Willie Taylor — has signed a deal with producer-songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox’s creative content company, Illustrate New Ideas.

Under the new deal, Cox, who previously contributed to the group’s 2008 self-titled debut album and their sophomore LP, Forever In a Day (2009), will lead the production for their fourth studio album.

“Bryan has been part of the Day26 story since our first album, and the music we created together remains an important part of our legacy,” Day26 said in a statement. “There is a level of trust, respect and creative understanding that already exists between us. We are excited to reunite with him, join Illustrate New Ideas and create a body of work that honors our sound while showing the growth we have experienced as artists and as men.”

Cox added, “Day26 and I have a history that goes back to the beginning of their career, so this partnership is a full circle moment. I have always believed in their talent, their chemistry and what they represent for R&B groups. We now have an opportunity to build on the foundation we created together while introducing a new chapter that reflects who they are today.”

As indicated above, Cox and Day26 have been collaborating since their formation. On their self-titled album, Cox worked on songs, including “Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Got Me Going” and “Exclusive (No Excuses).” On their follow-up, Cox contributed to the second single, “So Good,” and deep cuts “Stadium Music” and “Babymaker.”

Day26’s new album will be distributed via Jive Records, which RCA Records relaunched in February of this year, with Mike Weiss and David Melhado as its co-presidents. Additional details regarding the upcoming project are said to be forthcoming. The new album will follow 2024’s Day Ones, which marked their first full-length project in 15 years.

As for Cox, the R&B hitmaker and music executive, who also serves as senior vice president of A&R and executive producer at LVRN, is also in the studio currently working on new music with icons such as Mariah Carey, Kelly Rowland, Usher, Jagged Edge and Keyshia Cole.
