Baby Rose has reunited with Leon Thomas for her new single “Friends Again,” out via Secretly Canadian.
Rose’s resonant vocals ache with the crushing desire to evolve a platonic relationship into something more. When the romance doesn’t ignite, she’s left wondering if there’s a way to where they started.
“Will it ever be the same? / Why did we have to complicate it? / Moment of weakness we can’t explain / Will we ever be friends again?” Rose sings. Thomas responds, “Why try to put out these flames / When you always come back the same? / I tryto bury this rose / But in my mind, you still grow.”
Speaking on the song’s meaning, Rose explains, “‘Friends Again’ is about the push and pull, the endless cycle you go through when you desire what you can’t have.”
“Friends Again” arrives with a video directed by Morian Mikhail.

“Friends Again” is Rose’s first single in two years. In 2024, she teamed with BADBADNOTGOOD for their joint EP, Slow Burn.
She explained, “Slow Burn is our eclectic chemistry and the captured essence of our worlds colliding. Recording on tape with the band was a first; I felt like we were channeling Muscle Shoals’ rawness. It’s a reflection of past loves and losses, reminiscent of long drives down rural 95 from DC to NC as a child. This record represents venturing beyond boundaries, embracing freedom, and finding comfort.”
In the same year, Rose also joined Thomas on “I Used To,” a deep cut from his Grammy-winning album, MUTT.
Next month, Rose will join Givēon on the European leg of his Dear Beloved, The Tour. It begins March 6 in Stockholm and wraps up March 26 in Zurich.
