Destin Conrad is still in his alternative jazz bag. The Grammy-nominated singer has released a deluxe edition of his wHIMSY project.
The expanded set features six additional tracks, totaling 18, which include cameos from Meshell Ndegeocello and Jean Deaux. Ndegeocello makes a 20-second appearance on the aptly titled voice note “Meshell Checks In,” while Deaux contributes to “(More) Love.”
Regarding the deluxe, Conrad tells Rated R&B, “wHIMSY! picks up where the original left off, just with more movement and more play. It’s me leaning further into how jazz and R&B speak to each other.”

The standard version of wHIMSY was released Aug. 28, 2025. It includes contributions from Terrace Martin, James Fauntleroy, Keyon Harrold, Vanisha Gould, Ambré, Louie Lastic, Mack Keane, Austin Brown and Astyn Turr.
“wHIMSY is an off the cuff, free idea, that is my passion project,” said Conrad. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do—from my years in the Jazz Choir during high school to now, having the opportunity to release this project and reinventing what Jazz means to me now.”
Conrad’s first jazz project arrived four months after his Grammy-nominated debut album, Love on Digital. In March, Conrad embarked on his wHIMSY Tour, which visited six U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.
