After a five-year hiatus, British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas returns with her new single “Disarray.”
Grounded by Matt Hales’ somber guitar plucks, the pensive ballad is a meditation on accepting the fate of a deteriorated relationship.
Through her vivid, diaristic lyrics and strong yet measured vocal performance, La Havas channels her conflicting emotions into a sound that is as haunting as it is beautiful. It’s the calming sense of self after a storm — a burden released, allowing her to float into a new chapter.
“I must admit / The ride was often fun at times, but I refused to sit,” she sings, with a bittersweet sense of reminiscence and defiance.
Regarding “Disarray,” La Havas shared, “The song felt very intimate, almost like a secret just for me. It’s about vulnerability, honesty, and giving listeners a window into a moment of my life.”

“Disarray” was released independently, marking her first taste of new music since her 2020 self-titled album issued via Warner Music UK.
Lianne La Havas included singles such as “Bittersweet,” “Can’t Fight” and “Please Don’t Make Me Cry.”
With the release of “Disarray,” fans can expect even more new music from La Havas. “For the last couple of years, my life could have been described as utter disarray. Today, I can thankfully say, that is now firmly in the past, so I’d like to share my story with you in the coming months,” she wrote on Instagram, ahead of the song’s release.
