Tank is back on top. The R&B General’s latest single “Control” advances from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week.
The Janet Jackson-inspired track, which interpolates her 1986 hit of the same name, tallies Tank’s 11th chart-topper on this list.
Tank breaks his tie with Usher, joining Charlie Wilson for the most No. 1s on this chart among male acts. Both crooners tie Toni Braxton for the second-most No. 1s among all R&B singers, with Alicia Keys leading the pack (14).
Here is an overview of Tank’s No. 1s on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, ranked chronologically:

Here is an overview of the R&B artists with the most No. 1s on the Adult R&B Airplay chart:
“Control” was released in November 2025 via R&B Money/BMG. The sensual track was produced by Bizness Boi, Abi, Crater, Oh Gosh Leotus and Dylan Hyde.
Tank exclusively told Rated R&B, “‘Control’ is about control. Who really has it? The woman or man. Janet was fighting for control then and we are still fighting for control now. This song is your opportunity to seize Control.”
“Control” is Tank’s first single under his new partnership with BMG. It’s also his first solo track since dropping R&B Money: The Vault in April 2024, the deluxe edition of 2022’s R&B Money.
