For Summer Walker, love does cost a thing — at least on her new single “Spend It.”

On her self-penned track, produced by Rami Dawod, Slimwav and Dos Dias, Walker boldly tells a love interest that she’s no longer auctioning off her heart for free.

“Keep those sweet nothings from mе / They don’t mean nothing to me / Diamonds and pеarls, I’m that type of girl now / I want your black card, you can keep your heart,” she sings in the chorus.

“Spend It” arrives in two versions: the Diamonds and Pearls version and the Rent Is Due version, the latter simply a sped-up take. It’s also accompanied by an official music video featuring a cameo from Joanne the Scammer. (Editor’s Note: This story will be updated once the full video premieres.)

“Spend It” follows Walker’s “Heart of a Woman,” the lead single from her highly anticipated third album, Finally Over It. The soulful tune is currently at its peak at No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

Finally Over It will complete the trilogy that started with 2019’s Over It, followed by 2021’s Still Over It.

The latter album marked her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 166,000 equivalent units in the first week. Still Over It included appearances from SZA (“No Love“), Ari Lennox (“Unloyal“), JT of City Girls (“Ex For A Reason“), Ciara (“Ciara’s Prayer”), Omarion (“Screwin”), Cardi B (“Bitter – Narration By Cardi B”) and Pharrell Williams (“Dat Right There”).

In 2023, Walker released her CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP, a sequel to 2019’s CLEAR. The former project, which featured J. Cole and Childish Gambino, earned Walker a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Walker will join Chris Brown on the North American leg of his Breezy Bowl XX Stadium World Tour, which kicks off July 30 in Miami. She will appear in most of the cities, with her final show on Sept. 20 in Las Vegas.
